Having endured traumatic life experiences, Imee Contreras used mindfulness, present-moment awareness, forgiveness, and gratitude practices to achieve a happier, more fulfilling life.

Connecting with her personal stories, she teaches incarcerated women in maximum security prisons and sexually-abused women and children in protected shelter homes how to transform sorrow into profound well-being by living a life of purpose, compassion and integrity.

Imee teaches mindfulness in creative, playful, and radical ways that speak to the heart, and as a yoga therapist she connects her students to the sensational experience of breath and body.

Imee is the founder of Mindfulness Asia and co-founder of Philippine Insight Meditation Community.  A graduate of the Community Dharma Leadership Program of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and a Trained Mindfulness Facilitator through UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, she is the Philippine delegate to the annual United Nations Vesak celebrations, which engages world leaders in discussions for a peaceful, more sustainable planet on the most auspicious day for Buddhists worldwide.
